It's Time For A Change

This Sunday morning, as Canadians prepare to turn the clocks back to mark the end of Daylight Savings time, the Better Sleep Council Canada reminds consumers that the benefits of the extra hour of sleep can be achieved every night. According to a new survey(1), 58 per cent of Canadians confess a poor night's sleep results in a less productive day.

And nationally that lack of sleep translates into 48 million hours of lost productivity every week(2).

For many Canadians, changing the clocks back on October 30th helps us wake well rested from a better night's sleep. And for one-third of Canadians (33%), the extra hour of sleep leaves them feeling energized, with more time to spend with family and friends. But let's not be deceived. Our bodies quickly adjust to the time change, and the extra hour of sleep is easily forgotten. The Better Sleep Council Canada stresses the importance of focusing not just on the quantity, but the quality of sleep you get each night.

Sleep directly affects your mood, health and well-being, and for the adult working population, office productivity is at risk from a poor night's sleep.

According to the poll, not even a bad night's sleep will keep Canadians out of the office. Forty per cent say they'll still go to work, but won't be as efficient as usual."
